Tom Cruise is finally back and wearing his trademark Aviator sunglasses in the long-awaited and painfully long-overdue sequel to Top Gun – Top Gun: Maverick.
Tom Cruise’s original Top Gun Sunglasses became iconic in cinema with the 1986 film popularizing the Ray-Ban Aviator sunglasses, turning the brand and its classic sunglasses style into something of a legend.
Ray-Ban’s Aviator sunglasses became synonymous with pilots and aviation in general and in fact, with movies & Tom Cruise too for some time. Tom Cruise will also be wearing Aviator style sunglasses in Mission: Impossible 7 next year too.
The iconic Aviator sunglasses style has never gone out of fashion and more than 35 years later, Tom Cruise’s character “Maverick” is still wearing the same style of sunglasses in Top Gun: Maverick.
Top Gun: Maverick Sunglasses – Ray-Ban Aviators
The sunglasses of choice for Tom Cruise and pilots all over the world are the Ray-Ban RB3025 Large Aviator. These can be easily found on Amazon.com here or Amazon.co.uk.
In fact, this model from Ray-Ban is available in numerous colour variants with or without polarized lenses so finding a colour to match your style should be no problem at all. Check out the various options on Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk here.
Miles Teller Sunglasses in Top Gun: Maverick
Miles Teller is also seen wearing Ray-Ban sunglasses in Top Gun: Maverick. Miles Teller plays Lieutenant Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw, son of Maverick’s late best friend Nick “Goose” Bradshaw.
Miles Teller’s character “Rooster” has opted for the Ray-Ban RB3136 Caravan Sunglasses. These are an alternative variant of the classic Aviator shape. A little more square in design, these Aviator sunglasses may not be as iconic as the classic Aviator, but they are by no means any less cool. In fact, these could prove to become a future classic pair of sunglasses off the back of Top Gun: Maverick.
You can find these Ray-Ban RB3136 Caravan sunglasses on Amazon.com here or Amazon.co.uk.
Jon Hamm Sunglasses in Top Gun: Maverick
Jon Hamm plays Vice Admiral Beau “Cyclone” Simpson in Top Gun: Maverick. As commander of the Naval Air Forces, it’s important that “Cyclone” gets to wear some cool sunglasses too. Like “Rooster”, Jon Hamm’s character has also opted for the awesome Ray-Ban RB3136 Caravan sunglasses.
Again, you can find these Ray-Ban RB3136 Caravan sunglasses on Amazon.com here or Amazon.co.uk.
Glen Powell Sunglasses in Top Gun: Maverick
Glen Powell plays Lt. Jake “Hangman” Seresin in Top Gun: Maverick.
Apparently “Hangman” didn’t get the memo about Top Gun pilots wearing Aviator sunglasses. Thankfully though he’s saved the day by wearing these brilliant Ray-Ban RB2132 New Wayfarer sunglasses in the film.
Slightly smaller than the classic Wayfarer sunglasses, these are more rounded off and a little less aggressive in design, but arguably more practical and no less awesome.
Prescription Eyeglasses in Top Gun: Maverick
Top Gun: Maverick also features some prescription eyewear too and it looks like they are keeping it faithful by sticking to Ray-Ban here too. We even see an optical version of the Aviator glasses, apparently worn in combat!
Bashir Salahuddin Wears Ray-Ban Glasses in Top Gun: Maverick
Bashir Salahuddin plays WO-1 Bernie “Hondo” Coleman and wears an optical version of the classic Ray-Ban Wayfarer – the Ray-Ban RX5184 New Wayfarer prescription glasses. These are a popular choice from Ray-Ban giving that classic Wayfarer shape but with clear lenses.
Lewis Pullman Wears Optical Ray-Ban Eyeglasses in Top Gun: Maverick
Lewis Pullman plays Lt. Robert “Bob” Floyd in Top Gun: Maverick. Unlike most of the other Top Gun pilots, Floyd is seen wearing Ray-Ban RX6389 optical eyeglasses both on the ground and in the cockpit.
These are a large square style metal frame with clear or prescription lenses. They are not too dissimilar from a typical Aviator style.
